Marie Douglas-David apparently can’t. The 36-year-old Swedish countess is divorcing George David, her 67-year-old former CEO husband, and simply can’t live on the $43 millions she’ll get in the settlement. She wants the post-nuptial invalidated.

It’s obvious that George is being completely unreasonable about this. How can he expect his ex-wife to make ends meet on a mere $43,000,000? After all, she has housing expenses to consider; a Park Avenue apartment and three residences in Sweden. Other weekly burdens include $700 for limousine service, $4,500 for clothes, $1,000 for hair and skin treatments, $1,500 for restaurants and entertainment, and $8,000 for travel. And the poor woman doesn’t even have a job!

George, you knew this day was coming didn’t you? After all, you’re in your sixties and you married a woman thirty years your junior. You and I both know she wasn’t hooking up with you for your boyish good looks.

You’re worth an estimated $329 million. Here’s a suggestion; you keep the $43 million you earned from slaving away as a corporate CEO and give the rest to the countess and her boyfriend. Consider it an opportunity cost. You got what you wanted and now she’s getting what she wanted. You and your mistress can surely find a way to live on what’s left.
